Train with the best of the best here at Skydive Sussex, where we have everything you need to advance you in your skydiving goals and career.

Here at Skydive Sussex we offer the comprehensive AFP Program.

For those wishing to take to the skies with their own parachute, Skydive Sussex offers the Advanced Freefall Program. AFP is an accredited USPA training program effectively designed to ultimately teach students how to skydive using various learning techniques throughout a structured course outline. You can complete the AFP program and jump your own parachute without assistance in as few as ten jumps.

Starting with your first tandem skydive, you will work on various training objectives such as heading and altitude awareness, basic body position, and canopy control. Next, advance your skills with two training tandems (Tandems 2-3), designed to give you more responsibility on the skydive while still attached to a certified professional who will accompany you and provide hands on training to better prepare you for your solo levels.

Upon completion of the tandem progression, you will take a transitional ground training course designed to teach the knowledge and skills to necessary to complete a solo skydive. This comprehensive first jump course (FJC) typically takes about 6-8 hours and is offered rain or shine.

The next step in the AFP program is a series of seven solo skydiving levels, each including preliminary ground training, a “solo” skydive with one instructor, and a post jump debrief. During your solo levels, you will be required to complete all of the training objectives of the current level before moving on or “passing” to the next.

By the time you complete the seventh level of the AFP program, you will be able to perform a multitude of aircraft exits, successfully demonstrate novice freefall maneuvers and canopy control skills, as well as also recite general equipment knowledge with confidence.
From here, you will work on various objectives to satisfy the requirements for an “A” class license from the United States Parachute Association (USPA). Some of these requirements include completing a minimum of 25 freefalls, as well as packing a main parachute and jumping it without assistance.

During your initial training phases, and as a “student” working towards your “A” class license, you will be required to make at least one skydive every thirty days to remain current according to the standards set forth by the USPA. If you are unable to adhere to the currency guidelines, additional training and supervision will be required before moving on to the next level or being cleared for solo skydiving.

Given the unknown variables of man, nature, and machine there is no way to make these activities completely safe. With care it is possible to participate in these activities with reduced risk. Our goal is to make your first time skydiving as safe and enjoyable as humanly possible.
